Video Game Design and Kuhns Philosophy of Paradigms

Abstract

Kuhn's philosophy of science says that there are different paradigms that govern different periods of scientific inquiry. More importantly they are not compatible with one another. In this paper I use these concepts and apply it to video game design. There are different standards that apply to designing a game and hence different markers of success. This reveals some validity in Kuhns philosophy in a more real world context.
